For a woman, going to a fancy dress party can be a great excuse to wear a really sexy outfit. There are quite a number of different things to choose from that can look really good. One of the largest factors which you have to consider when you are deciding on what to wear is how much self confidence you have. You do not want to make yourself stand out from the crowd if it is going to make you feel uncomfortable all evening and ultimately ruin the whole party for you. There are still plenty of outfits to choose from even if are not daring enough to wear something with a short skirt or a low-cut top. You can still manage to look really alluring without showing off your legs.
Pirate costumes for women can look very sexy and still be relatively simple. For the less confident lady, there is the option of dressing up in a man’s style of outfit with some small feminine touches added to it. For example, you could wear some fairly plain-looking trousers with a wide leather belt. This will help to exaggerate your waistline and hips. Perhaps you could wear a man’s shirt with the belt over the top of it? For ladies who are a bit more daring they could have the shirt unbuttoned quite low and wear a nice necklace that is in keeping with pirate costumes.
Another possibility is a nice skirt or dress worn with leather boots. Have a look at Keira Knightley in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies and the style of her clothes. If you can find yourself a dress that has got a lace-up front then it will look really nice with a pair of black or brown boots even if it is long. This is the good thing about pirate costumes; there are so many different ways to dress. Again, for braver ladies that want something that is a bit more ‘naughty’, there is the option of a lace-up dress that is a bit too tight and a little on the short side…
Pirate costumes for women will often have very high leather boots which, when worn with something short, will guarantee to make you the centre of attention amongst the party’s male guests. The only thing about these types of boots is that they can be very expensive… Fortunately there are many fancy dress outlets that hire out pirate costumes as well as selling them.
So, as you can now see, to look sexy at a fancy dress party, it is not necessary to dress up in a saucy nurse’s outfit (unless of course your boyfriend likes the idea of it…). Pirate costumes are a great way to look sexy and a little bit different to all of the other guests. You can be as demure or risque as you want to and still stand out from everyone else. After all, what fun would it be for a girl to dress up as just another French maid or sexy vampiress?

If you are thinking about going to a fancy dress costume party dressed up as a pirate then you might want to consider what items of clothing are most pirate-like.
For a man the obvious possibilities would include- a black and white stripey top, a waistcoat, dark trousers/jeans with boots over the top and an eye patch. You might even go as far as a bandana but a parrot on the shoulder would probably only appeal to the brave. Don’t forget about authentic looking pirate weaponry (obviously not real or you’ll end up walking the plank!). Perhaps you could equip yourself with a plastic sword or musket. Behaviour at the event should be as realistic as possible with regular exclamations of ‘Aaarr!’ and, if it is a chilly evening, the odd ‘Shiver me timbers!’
As a buccaneer a lady can become decidedly wicked and adventurous with her costume! There are a lot of pirate design costumes that are saucy and exciting. Some costumes may even include telescope, eye-patch and dagger! If you are feeling daring then you could opt for dressing as a sexy pirate wench complete with a lace up front halter dress, fishnet stockings and a sash round your middle.
For the meeker lady Renaissance Fairy peasant garb is just as acceptable. A chemise or peasant blouse with full sleeves, a bodice or corset, and under-skirt and accenting over-skirt. If she was a lady pirate, she may also be wearing a frock coat over this costume, but for sure she will also be carrying all traditional weaponry, including a (plastic) bodice dagger!
If you are organising a themed pirate fancy dress costume party then you could also make up some pirate-style games and activities for your guests. How about a treasure-hunting game?
Try drawing a map on a piece of plain paper, stain it with coffee and burn the edges for an authentic looking treasure map.
At the end of the treasure trail you could even have some appropriate booty! How about a treasure chest full of chocolates and goodies, instead of the usual boring old jewellery and sovereigns?
There are all sorts of possibilities for a really good party. Let your imagination go wild.
